No Female Freemasons in Tanzania — or Anywhere in Regular Freemasonry
Regular Freemasonry Is Exclusively Male
There are no female Freemasons in Tanzania — or in any regular (mainstream) Masonic jurisdiction worldwide.
Why
- Landmarks of the Craft: "Ancient Landmarks" (per UGLE, 1929) require candidates to be **freeborn men** of mature age, good repute, belief in Supreme Being.
- Gender exclusivity: All 190+ Grand Lodges in amity with **United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE)** — the "mother" grand lodge — admit only men.
- Prince Hall Affiliation (PHA): Also male-only (though PHA has female auxiliary: Heroines of Jericho, Order of Eastern Star).
Female-Only & Mixed Bodies (Not "Regular")
- Order of Women Freemasons (UK, 1908): Women only; own Grand Lodge; rituals parallel.
- Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons (HFAF, UK): Women only.
- Le Droit Humain (International Co-Freemasonry): Mixed gender; founded 1893; not recognized by UGLE.
- Eastern Star, Amaranth, White Shrine: Female auxiliaries (require Masonic relative).
Tanzania Context
Tanzania has **no recognized Grand Lodge** (male or female). Any Masonic activity would be via visiting brethren or clandestine groups. No Tanzanian actress — or any woman — can be a "regular" Freemason.
