Morocco's Education System

Morocco has reformed and expanded its education system to provide quality learning for all citizens.

Structure

• Preschool (ages 4‑6): Optional, focuses on early development and socialization.
• Primary (ages 6‑12, 6 years): Compulsory; foundational literacy, numeracy, science.
• Secondary (ages 13‑17, 3+2 years):
  • Lower Secondary (3 years): Broad curriculum including Arabic, French, English, math, science, social studies, PE.
  • Upper Secondary (2 years): Specialized streams—sciences, humanities, technical, vocational—leading to the Moroccan Baccalaureate.
• Higher Education: Universities and institutes offer Bologna‑compliant Bachelor's, Master's, PhD programs. Public universities dominate; private institutions growing.
