Survival Strategies of Homeless Children in Senegal

An estimated 15,000 street children (70 % with at least one parent) cope through:

• Odd jobs: begging, street vending, car washing.
• Living on streets in makeshift shelters—exposed to violence, malnutrition, disease.
• Placement in orphanages—often overcrowded, underfunded.
• NGO support: food, shelter, education, healthcare.

Despite hardships, many show remarkable resilience.
