U.S. Role in South Sudan: Support, Not Sole Responsibility

It is inaccurate to say the United States is solely responsible for the success or failure of South Sudan. While the U.S. has provided significant diplomatic, humanitarian, and development assistance since the nation's 2011 independence, South Sudan's trajectory depends on a complex interplay of internal and external factors:
