Yes, mosquitoes are present in Cape Verde, including:

• Aedes aegypti: Vector for Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika. Outbreaks occur (notably Dengue 2009, 2017; Zika 2015–16). Daytime biters; urban breeders.
• Anopheles arabiensis: Malaria vector, but malaria was eliminated (WHO certified 2020). No local transmission currently.
• Culex spp.: Nuisance biters; potential West Nile vector (not established).

Protection
