Names of major bodies water in Rwanda?

Rwanda is a landlocked country in East Africa, and therefore it has no major seas or oceans within its borders. However, it does have several significant bodies of water, including:

Lakes:

1. Lake Kivu: Located on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lake Kivu is the largest lake in Rwanda and one of the largest in Africa. It covers an area of approximately 2,700 square kilometers (1,040 sq mi) and is known for its deep waters and scenic beauty.

2. Lake Ihema: Situated in the eastern part of Rwanda, Lake Ihema is the second-largest lake in the country. It covers an area of approximately 90 square kilometers (35 sq mi) and is an important source of water for the surrounding communities.

3. Lake Rugezi: Located in the southwestern region of Rwanda, Lake Rugezi is a crater lake formed by volcanic activity. It is known for its picturesque setting, with lush green vegetation surrounding its shores.

Rivers:

1. Nyabarongo River: The Nyabarongo River is the longest river in Rwanda and is considered the source of the Nile River. It flows through the western and southern parts of the country before entering Lake Victoria and subsequently becoming part of the White Nile.

2. Akagera River: The Akagera River flows along the eastern border of Rwanda and empties into Lake Victoria. It is a major source of water for the Akagera National Park, which is renowned for its wildlife and rich biodiversity.

These bodies of water are important natural resources for Rwanda, supporting agriculture, fishing, hydroelectric power generation, and tourism activities.
