How did the holiday natal get its name in Brazil?

There is no such holiday as "natal" in Brazil. However, the holiday of Christmas is called "Natal" in Portuguese there. Christmas gets its name from the word "Christ," but the term Natal specifically comes from the Latin phrase "dies natalis," which translates to "day of birth."
