How did Morocco become a country?
Morocco was originally inhabited by Berber tribes. In the 7th century AD, Morocco was conquered by Arab Muslims, who introduced the Arabic language and religion. In the 9th century, Morocco became independent under the Idrisid dynasty. In the 11th century, Morocco was conquered by the Almoravids, a Berber dynasty from the Sahara, who founded Marrakesh. In the 12th century, Morocco became an empire under the Almohads, another Berber dynasty. The Almohads conquered much of Spain and North Africa. In the 13th century, the Marinids, another Berber dynasty, took over Morocco. The Marinids were succeeded by the Saadian dynasty in the 16th century. In the 17th century, Morocco was ruled by the Alaouite dynasty, which still rules today.
