Stay in a hotel by the sea wall to take advantage of the ocean view and the cool sea air. Four-star accommodations can be found for between $150 and $350 per night. It's worth it to pay more for a luxury room in Guyana, as hotel standards may not be comparable to those in the U.S.
Book a luxury hotel along Main Street in the city center for maximum convenience. Authentic restaurants, shopping and unique nightlife are all within walking distance.
Consider staying outside of Georgetown in an eco-lodge surrounded by rainforest. The forest is home to many species of wildlife (over 800 species of birds alone). A luxury for a nature lover, tree house accommodations can be found for less than $100 per night.
Stay in a hotel downtown to visit the historic 19th century wooden architecture left over from Dutch and British occupation.
Fly into Cheddi Jagan International Airport for service to Georgetown. Airlines fly from the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean on a regular basis. The airport is 40 kilometers from the Georgetown city center.
Take a mini-bus to get around the city. Operated by privately owned companies, fares are well-regulated and buses only operate in strictly allocated zones.
