The capital of Malawi was not relocated from Zomba to Lilongwe. Lilongwe has been the capital of Malawi since 1975. Zomba was the capital of the British Nyasaland protectorate from 1891 to 1964, and the capital of the independent nation of Malawi from 1964 to 1975.
