Why was China Traditionally not interested in trading with the west?

This statement isn't entirely accurate, China has been involved in trade with the West for centuries. Although, there were periods when China pursued isolationist policies, such as during the Qing Dynasty, when the country limited trade to certain ports and imposed strict regulations on foreign merchants. However, during most of its history, China has been an important participant in global trade.
