Stinging Insects of Guam: The Giant Centipede

On the island of Guam, the Giant Centipede (Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans) is the only centipede species known to sting humans. While centipedes typically bite, this species can deliver a sting that usually causes mild, short-lived pain. However, rare cases of anaphylaxis have been reported, particularly among young children.
