Why league of legends client and website work in China?

The Chinese government strictly regulates the internet, including the content that can be accessed by Chinese citizens. In order to operate in China, foreign companies must comply with these regulations, which include obtaining government approval for their products and services.

In the case of League of Legends, the Chinese government granted approval for the game to be operated in China in 2010. However, the government also required Tencent, the Chinese company that operates League of Legends in China, to make changes to the game in order to comply with Chinese regulations.

These changes included:

* Censorship of politically sensitive content. Tencent is required to censor any content in the game that is deemed to be politically sensitive, such as references to the Tiananmen Square protests.

* Real-name registration. Tencent requires players to register for accounts using their real names and identification numbers. This is done to help the government track down users who engage in illegal activities.

* Restrictions on game time. Tencent limits the amount of time that players can spend playing the game each day. This is done to prevent players from becoming addicted to the game.

By complying with these regulations, Tencent has been able to operate League of Legends successfully in China. The game is extremely popular in China, with over 100 million active players.
