Singapore only has two distinct seasons: the wet season and the dry season.
The wet season usually begins in November and ends in January. During this period, heavy rain and thunderstorms are common. The average monthly rainfall during the wet season is around 200 mm (8 inches).
The dry season usually lasts from February to October. During this period, the weather is generally dry with occasional showers. The average monthly rainfall during the dry season is around 100 mm (4 inches).
Although the weather in Singapore is generally hot and humid, there are occasional cool spells. These cool spells usually occur during the months of December and January, when the temperature can drop to as low as 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit).
