Where does people live in Thailand?

Thailand's population has a very unequal density distribution. Most Thais live in the central plains regions in and around Bangkok and the nearby areas, which is one of the most densely populated metropolitan areas in the world with over 8.3 million inhabitants. On the other hand, only a small proportion of people inhabit the country's mountainous border regions. The Northeast (Isan) makes up approximately one-third of the total land area of Thailand yet accounts for roughly one-third of the total population of the country due to the poor soil and infertile landscapes that have prevented large scale economic expansion compared to other regions; it remains less industrialized compared to other parts of Thailand yet plays a major part in producing agricultural goods used as exports.
