There are direct flights from Tokyo to Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport (IWK) operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes. From the airport, you can take a taxi or bus to reach the city center of Iwakuni.
Option 2: By Train
You can take the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Shinagawa Station in Tokyo to Shin-Iwakuni Station in Iwakuni. The journey takes about 4 hours and requires transferring at Hiroshima Station. From Shin-Iwakuni Station, you can take a local train or taxi to reach the city center of Iwakuni.
Option 3: By Bus
There are overnight buses operated by several companies, including Willer Express and Kosoku Bus, that depart from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal in Tokyo and arrive at Iwakuni Bus Center. The bus journey takes approximately 11 hours.
Option 4: By Car
If you rent a car, it is about an 8-hour drive from Tokyo to Iwakuni via the expressways (高速道路). Please note that driving in Japan requires an International Driving Permit (IDP) and knowledge of local traffic rules and road signs.
