Has Japan landed on the moon?

Japan has not yet landed on the Moon. Japan's space agency, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), has various lunar exploration missions planned, including the SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon), which is scheduled for launch in 2022, and the MMX (Martian Moons eXploration), which is scheduled for launch in 2024. However, none of these missions involve landing on the Moon itself.
