Why is Malaysia part of both Southeast Asia and island Asia?

Southeast Asia:

Malaysia is located in the southeastern region of Asia, making it part of Southeast Asia. It is culturally, geographically, and politically tied to the region, sharing borders and historical connections with other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Additionally, Malaysia is part of several regional organizations, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which further solidifies its identity as part of Southeast Asia.

Island Asia:

Malaysia is also considered part of Island Asia due to its location on the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo. The country consists of two distinct geographical regions separated by the South China Sea: Peninsular Malaysia on the mainland, and East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. This geographical feature makes Malaysia part of the broader region known as Island Asia, which includes other Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and the Philippines.

So, Malaysia's classification as both part of Southeast Asia and Island Asia reflects its geographical position, cultural ties, historical connections, and political associations within these respective regions.
