They are constructed in the shape of palm trees with the trunk of each palm attached to the Dubai coastline. As of October,2010, construction of Dubai's Palm Islands was still ongoing and when completed the islands are expected to add 120 kilometers of sandy beaches to the United Arab Emirates.
Mumbai's Mahalaxmi Temple is a widely known cultural landmark built in honor of the Hindu goddess of wealth Mahalaxmi. A sacred Islamic cultural landmark is the Haji Ali Dargah, located on an island off the coast of Worli in southern Mumbai. Mumbai's most celebrated landmark is the Taj Mahal, which is a mosque that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
