Tasmanian Devil Fur: No Commercial Use, Protected Species

Legal Protection

There is no commercial use for Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) fur. The species is protected under Tasmania's Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 (and earlier conservation acts), which prohibit killing, taking, or possessing any part of the animal.

Conservation efforts focus on saving the species from Devil Facial Tumour Disease and habitat loss.
