Tasmanian devils are endemic to Tasmania, an island state of Australia with a temperate maritime climate.
Conditions are cool to mild year-round, with frequent rain and occasional snow in highlands. Devils are adapted to this climate—dens, nocturnal habits, and thick fur suit the cool, damp environment. They do not live in warm tropical zones.
