Luis Váez de Torres: He Sailed the Torres Strait, Not to Australia

There is no evidence that Luis Váez de Torres ever embarked on a voyage to Australia. He is known for his 1605–1606 voyage through the Torres Strait (between New Guinea and Australia) as part of the Spanish expedition led by Pedro Fernandes de Queirós.
