Where is aluminium found in Western Australia?
The main area of bauxite mining is the Darling Range, southeast of Perth. There are two major bauxite mines, the Jarrahdale and the Huntly mines, which are owned and operated by Alcoa World Alumina Australia. The bauxite is processed into alumina at the Kwinana alumina refinery, which is also owned and operated by Alcoa. The alumina is then exported to other countries for further processing into aluminium.
