- They are found in shallow, sandy or rocky habitats, including coral reefs, estuaries, and bays, at depths of up to 120 m.
- Some species, such as the carpet wobbegong, are known to live in tidal pools.
- They are also found in estuaries and bays in northern Australia and southern New Guinea.
- Other species are found off the coasts of India, New Guinea, Malaysia and Indonesia.
