Province of Alberta in Canada the meaning Alberta?

The name "Alberta" was chosen in honour of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria.

It was suggested by the Marquess of Lorne, the Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883, and husband of Princess Louise.

The name Alberta is derived from the Gaelic words "alb", meaning "white", and "berta", meaning "bright", and is therefore often translated as "bright white".
