Canada Never "Got Freedom" from the UK—It Evolved Into a Sovereign Realm

Canada did not gain independence via a single "freedom" event. Instead, sovereignty evolved incrementally:

• 1867: British North America Act → Dominion of Canada (self-governing colony).
• 1931: Statute of Westminster → Legislative equality with UK.
• 1982: Constitution Act → Patriation; Canada can amend its own constitution.

Today, Canada is a Commonwealth realm and constitutional monarchy. King Charles III is head of state, represented by the Governor General (federal) and Lieutenant Governors (provincial), appointed on Canadian PM's advice. The UK Parliament has zero authority over Canada.
