• Exercise Needs: Huskies require vigorous daily exercise; unsafe in tropical heat.
• Health Risks: Heat exhaustion, dehydration, skin infections, behavioral distress.

If You Already Have a Husky There

• Air-conditioned indoor living essential.
• Walk only pre-dawn or post-dusk.
• Cooling mats, vests, constant water.
• Regular vet monitoring.
• Consider rehoming to a temperate climate.

Better Breeds for Trinidad

Short-coated, heat-tolerant dogs: Labrador, mixed breeds, local “Potcakes,” Basenji, Pharaoh Hound, or small companion breeds.
