Bonhomme Carnaval Is Not Quebec's Mascot—The Polar Bear Is

Bonhomme Carnaval is the beloved mascot of the Quebec Winter Carnival, not of the province of Quebec itself. The official animal emblem of Quebec is the polar bear, featured on the provincial coat of arms (adopted 1939). Bonhomme, a jolly snowman with a red cap and arrow sash, has represented the annual carnival since 1955.
