Was the Quebec sovereignty referendum accepted by Quebecois?
The Quebec referendum on sovereignty was held on October 30, 1995, and asked Quebecois voters the following question: "Do you agree that Quebec should become sovereign after having made a formal offer to Canada for a new economic and political partnership within the scope of the bill respecting the future of Quebec and of the agreement signed on June 12, 1995?"
The result was a very close vote, with 49.42% of voters voting "No" and 49.58% voting "Yes". This means that the referendum was rejected by a very narrow margin.
