Why was Vancouver created?

The city of Vancouver was created by an Act of the Parliament of Canada in 1886, and was incorporated in 1890. It was named after Captain George Vancouver, who explored the area in the late 18th century. The city was created as a result of the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush, which brought a large influx of people to the area. Vancouver was also chosen as the terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which further contributed to its growth. The city has continued to grow and prosper since then, and is now one of the largest and most important cities in Canada.
