The African Lion Safari allows visitors to watch animals in their natural habitat. The Sahara-esque land covers over 50 acres. Animals are segregated in some aspects, but at the least each animal has two acres of land to roam.
Although the African Lion Safari has been open to visitors since 1969, the zoo started as an animal reserve. Originally the land was home to 40 lions on three reserves, but today it has over 1,000 animals roaming the land. The park is also home to the preservation of 30 endangered species.
African Lion Safari is a family-friendly attraction and alcohol is not permitted on the grounds. Smoking is only allowed in the three designated smoking areas, and unruly behavior is not allowed. Pets are not allowed, to ensure safety for all animals and guests. All cars that drive through the safari must be completely covered. This means motorcycles, convertibles and similar vehicles are not allowed into the park.
African Lion Safari encourages not only animal preservation but education as well. In order to save animals and avoid endangerment or even extinction, people must be educated about these animals. Throughout the park and website visitors can learn various aspects of the lives of these animals.
Although there is no official hotel or resort that accompanies African Lion Safari, a number of hotels in the area offer package deals. You can stay at the Best Western, Cambridge Hotel, Holiday Inn or other hotels in the area and receive free admission to African Lion Safari.
