Cashing a U.S. Check in Bermuda: Requires Deposit

You cannot directly cash a U.S. check in Bermuda. The process:

1. Deposit the check into a Bermuda bank account (yours or a third party's).
2. Wait for clearing: 2–3 weeks for U.S. dollar checks drawn on U.S. banks (collection basis).
3. Withdraw in Bermuda dollars (BMD) or USD (if account is USD-denominated). BMD = USD 1:1 pegged.

Fees apply:

• Deposit/collection fee (~$25–$50).
• Currency conversion (if any) — usually 1:1 for USD/BMD.
• Monthly account fees if non-resident.

Alternatives: Wire transfer (few days, ~$15–$45), Wise/Revolut (lower fees), or have issuer send electronic payment.
