Is there any mining in Belize?

There is some mining activity in Belize, although it is not a major industry. The main mineral resources mined in Belize are petroleum and natural gas. Small-scale mining of gold, silver, zinc, and copper has also been reported. The government of Belize has been exploring the potential for large-scale mining of these minerals, as well as other minerals such as bauxite and limestone. However, no major mining projects have been developed in Belize to date.
