Can crocodiles swim across the Atlantic Ocean?
Crocodiles cannot swim across the Atlantic Ocean. While crocodiles are powerful swimmers and can cover long distances in the water, the Atlantic Ocean is simply too vast for them to cross. The distance between Africa and South America, the shortest crossing point, is over 3,000 miles (4,800 kilometers). Crocodiles do not have the endurance or the ability to store enough energy to swim such a long distance. Additionally, the open ocean environment is not suitable for crocodiles as they prefer shallow, freshwater habitats.
