Campgrounds in Bluff City, Tennessee

A part of the Tri-Cities region consisting of Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol, Bluff City lies on Boone Lake and is within minutes of Cherokee National Forest. Many campgrounds can be found in and around Bluff City, due in part to Bristol Motor Speedway only three miles from downtown Bluff City, which draws thousands of race enthusiasts who take advantage of the campgrounds throughout race season.
  1. Red Barn Campground

    • Located on more than 50 acres of farmland, the Red Barn Campground rests on a hill overlooking the Bristol Motor Speedway. The grounds offers more than 2,000 sites, each primitive and void of RV hookups. Despite the simple nature of the campgrounds, the Red Barn Campgrounds have become known for its live shows and concerts, playing host to a local festival known as the Any Festival in 2009. Within walking distance to Bristol Motor Speedway and downtown Bristol, the Red Barn Campground is within close proximity to restaurants like the Speedway Diner and the Simply Delicious Market Place, one of the best deli shops in the area.

    Lakeview RV Park

    • Located on Boone Lake, the Lakeview RV Park features a scenic view of the lake and offers a wealth of amenities including a salt water pool, a rustic camp store, and a camp restaurant, the Lakeview Grill. Its friendly, courteous staff is the true gem of the campground, while the sites are large and feature full hookups. The campground also rents boats so campers may explore Boone Lake. Centrally located in Bluff City, the campground is within walking distance to attractions like the Tri City Flea Market and only five miles from the attractions of downtown Bristol like the Bristol Motor Speedway and the historic Twin City Drive-In Theater, in operation since 1949.

    Cherokee Trails Campground

    • Situated within Cherokee National Forest, Cherokee Trails Campground is located only 10 miles from Bluff City. Tent and RV sites are lush and surrounded by forest, while the campground also features two rustic cabins for rent, each comfortably furnished in western style décor. Cherokee National Forest offers a great deal of attractions, from trout fishing in the south fork of nearby Holston Lake to horseback riding along the many U.S. Forest Service roads that stretch throughout the forest. The site's location at the base of Holston Mountain also make it an excellent site for hikers due to the number of mountain trails that extend up the mountain and overlook the south fork of Holston Lake.

    Cherokee National Forest

    • Comprised of more than 600,000 acres of land, Cherokee National Forest lies within 10 miles of Bluff City. More than 20,000 species of plants and animals inhabit the forest that offers everything from primitive camping sites to developed sites with electricity and shower facilities. The park features a number of independent campgrounds like Low Gap Campground, which lies a few miles from Bluff City and attractions like Chestnut Flats Gap, as well as sites like Bayview Family Campgrounds and Cardens Bluff Campgrounds, both of which lie further within the forest near Watauga Lake. Since Cherokee National Forest is publicly accessible federal land, "dispersed" or rate-free camping is also permitted as long as certain rules and regulations are followed.
