Spread out over 4,038 acres, the Norris Dam State Park features miles of hiking trails as well as the fishing and boating opportunities on Norris Lake. The campground has a marina and boat ramp on the lake, which has 700 miles of shoreline. Pontoon boats are available for rent. Two camping areas in the park have a combined 75 sites. Most of the sites come with picnic tables and grills as well as electrical and water hook-ups. Restrooms, showers, a dump station and a laundry facility are all within easy reach of the campground. A primitive camping area for youth groups can also be reserved. Additional recreational activities include playgrounds, a swimming pool, courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton, and horseshoe pits. Norris Dam State Park also has a museum that includes Appalachian artifacts.

The Volunteer Park Family Campground, which is five or so minutes south of Norris, has RV sites with full hook-ups and up to 50-amp electric. RV pull-through sites in wooded areas are available. The sites come with cable TV and free WiFi Internet access. Tent sites in secluded areas can also be found in the campground. Amenities include a laundry facility, a grocery store with gifts and souvenirs, restrooms, showers and dump stations. For recreation, the campground offers a heated pool, a kids' pool, horseshoe pits, nature trails, basketball courts, a playground and an exercise room. The campground is within 10 miles of Norris Dam State Park, and within 12 miles of Knoxville.

Situated along the shores of Lake Norris, the Mountain Lake Marina & RV Resort has 300 camping sites as well as various cabins available for rent. The RV sites are on concrete pads and come with water, sewer and either 30- or 50-amp electric connections. The sites also have cable TV and WiFi Internet access, and are near a dump station. Laundry facilities, restrooms, showers, a swimming pool, a playground and a camp store are on the grounds. Campers can take advantage of walking paths and a full-service marina with boat launch which rents boats and jet skis. The lodge can accommodate up to 150 guests.
