Lake Campgrounds in Michigan

The state of Michigan plays host to approximately 150 campgrounds, of which more than 35 reside near lakes. Some lakeside campgrounds require guests to register for fishing licenses or permits. Due to extreme weather conditions during the winter months, many Michigan campgrounds remain open seasonally between the months of May through October.

    • The Horseshoe Lake Campground resides in Michigan's Upper Peninsula region upon 1,250 feet of shoreline property. Campers may use the lake for fishing, boating and swimming purposes. The campground features a host of additional amenities and services including a general store, a playground, recreational trails, barbeque facilities and picnic tables. The 65-plus campsites offer full hook-ups, such as electricity, water and sewer.

    Higgins Lake / Roscommon KOA

    • Situated in northeastern Michigan, Higgins Lake / Roscommon KOA enjoys a spot alongside the 10,000-acre Higgins Lake which guests can use for snorkeling, swimming and fishing. Accommodations include RV and tent sites, as well as one-room and studio cabins. Guests have access to such facilities as an arcade, a rock climbing wall and a playground. The campground also plays host to such activities as evening movies and campfires.

    Dumont Lake Campground

    • The southwestern Michigan town of Allegan plays host to Dumont Lake Campground. The lake spreads out across approximately 250 acres, accommodating swimmers and boaters alike. All of the RV and tent sites come outfitted with electricity and water hook-ups. Some of the sites also feature such additional perks as grass, shade or RV pads. On-site sporting activities include basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes and volleyball.

    6 Lakes Campground

    • 6 Lakes Campground resides in the southeastern portion of the state and upon the banks of Boot Lake in Hillsdale, Michigan. The lake remains connected to five other lakes (Bass, Baw Beese, Cain, First and Second) via various channels. The 6 Lakes Campground features boat rentals, docks and ramps. The on-site general store sells camping supplies and goods, including bait, snacks and drinks. Each of the campground's 105 sites provides full hook-ups.
