Campgrounds in Gwinn, Michigan

The town of Gwinn, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, started as a planned industrial community in the early 1900s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Stay in a campground in Gwinn, which has over 52 lakes surrounded by woods, and enjoy year-round outdoor recreational activities. If the campgrounds' activities are not enough, you can play golf at Red Fox Run Golf Course or experience a dog-sled ride with Snowy Plains Kennel.
  1. Anderson Lake West State Forest Campground

    • Anderson Lake West State Forest Campground has 19 rustic camping sites for tents and trailers, 10 of which can accommodate 40-foot trailers. The sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis and have vault toilets and potable water. The campground has a boat launch, a trailhead for hiking and mountain biking and the 26-mile Bass Lake Motorcycle Trail for off-road vehicles. Cross-country skiing, wildlife viewing and fishing for bluegill in Anderson Lake are other activities you can enjoy in the campground. Four miles east of the campground, you can fish for brown trout in the Escanaba River. The park has no entrance fee but a camping fee applies.

    Bass Lake State Forest Campground

    • You'll find 22 first-come, first-served sites for tents and trailers in Bass Lake State Forest Campground. Ten of the sites can accommodate 40-foot trailers and the rustic campground has vault toilets and potable water. Facilities in this campground include a boat launch, and just one mile east of the campground, the Bass Lake Motorcycle Trail. Hiking, wildlife viewing and fishing for rainbow trout in Bass Lake are the activities offered in the campground. Fish for walleye in Pike Lake, one mile east from the campground; fish for musky in Big Shag Lake, five miles east of the campground and fish for rainbow trout in Little Shag Lake, also five miles east. The park does not have an entrance fee, but a camping fee applies.

    Horseshoe Lake Campground and R.V. Park

    • In the 60-acre Horseshoe Lake Campground and R.V. Park, you'll find 67 campsites for tents, RVs, campers and trailers. Each of the sites in this family-owned campground has a picnic table and a fire ring. Facilities and amenities in the park include full-hookup sites, Horseshoe Lake, a fishing pier, ATV trails, a boat launch, restrooms, showers, a laundromat, a store, a playground, and boat, canoe and paddle boat rentals. It's open year-round, so you can enjoy fishing and swimming in the lake, walking on the 1,250-foot sandy beach and hiking along nature trails. Lakeside log cabins are also available for rent.

    Little Lake State Forest Campground

    • Only seven miles from Gwinn, Little Lake State Forest Campground offers 26 sites for tent and trailers on a first-come, first-served basis. Six of the sites in this rustic campground, which has vault toilets and potable water, can accommodate 40-foot trailers. Located on Little Lake, you'll find a boat launch and, 12 miles west of the campground, the Bass Lake Motorcycle Trail. Activities here include wildlife viewing, hiking, biking and fishing for walleye and perch. You can also fish for musky in Bass Lake, four miles southwest of the campground, or for bluegill in Wilson Lake, 3.5 miles north of the campground. Although there is no entrance fee, a camping fee applies.
