Campgrounds in Michigan

The state of Michigan features over 1,000 campgrounds composed of private facilities, membership-only campgrounds and the state parks of the upper and lower peninsula. Campgrounds range from those on small lakes, parks on the Great Lakes, camps with no water bodies to deluxe campgrounds. In Michigan find a style for everyone's taste. Camping lasts from late April until mid-October, depending on the campground you choose.
  1. Albert Young State Park Boyne City

    • Albert Young State Park sits on 560 wooded acres on the shores of Lake Charlevoix. The park features several hundred feet of clean, sandy beaches, with a marked-off swimming area. A beach house with showers is available for day use. Park amenities include a camp store with supplies, ice cream, basic groceries, bait and souvenirs. Kids enjoy a stocked fishing pond; find poles and bait for rent at the camp store. Two different playgrounds are conveniently located in the shade for kids. Enjoy a trail around the perimeter of the park for a two mile or shorter walk.

    Rifle River Resort: Outdoor Adventure

    • Rifle River Resort is one branch of Outdoor Adventure Inc., a members-only campground facility in Sterling. The resort serves breakfast each Sunday under a giant gazebo. The campground also features a gathering hall with a large-screen TV, laundry facility, camp store with cooler, movie and tube rentals, fishing pond and a large playground for kids. This campground sits on the Rifle River, known for tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Get dropped off up the river and exit to the campground by the docking station after you float, paddle or row down.

    Jellystone Resort Grayling

    • Jellystone Camp Resort in Grayling is a private campground, open to the public. This is a family-friendly facility, with themed weekends planned throughout the year. Each year the themed weekends include Christmas in July, Easter, Redneck, All Sports, Halloween, Chocolate Lovers, Luau, Patriotic and Salute to Heroes. The campground features a mini-golf course, heated outdoor pool, large camp store, basketball court, baseball diamond, volleyball pit and bicycle rental. Kids enjoy a gigantic jumping pillow and playground area. Every night at dusk, kids enjoy cartoons shown on a big screen behind the camp store.
