Campgrounds in West Michigan

In West Michigan, covering Muskegon, Kent, Ottawa and Allegan counties, there is an abundance of things to do while camping. Visit Lake Michigan, the Blanchard Nature Center, the Grand Haven boardwalk and pier, and several lakes for fishing and boating. There are several camping locations to choose from throughout West Michigan. Most campgrounds will offer primitive to premium sites for both tents and RVs.
  1. Allendale KOA

    • Located 20 minutes west of Grand Rapids, the Allendale KOA offers year-round camping. Choose from RV or tent sites with full hookup, water and electricity available.

      This children-friendly campground has a pool with a wet slide, two playgrounds and an arcade room. Go fishing or boating on one of the two ponds that have river access.

      Make reservations online or by telephone. Rates as of 2010 include $24 per night for a primitive tent site and $41 per night for an RV site with full hookup, 50 amps electric and cable at a back-in site.

    Duke Creek Campground

    • Enjoy trout fishing while camping at Duke Creek Campground.

      Located 18 miles north of Grand Rapids, the Duke Creek Campground offers tent and RV camping on 36 wooded acres. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table and the campground is pet-friendly.

      Amenities include hayrides, hiking, bike trails and a heated pool that is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Enjoy fishing on the trout stream, but don't forget to pick up a fishing license first.

      This campground has 88 full hookup sites, 26 water and electricity-only sites and 11 pull-through sites.

      Rates as of 2010 include a full hookup site for $33 per night, water and electricity-only site for $31 per night and a primitive site for $26.50 per night.

    Dumont Lake Campground

    • Located 45 minutes south of Grand Rapids, the Dumont Lake Campground offers primitive to full hookup tent and RV sites. The 250-acre lake accommodates up to 21-foot boats.

      Onsite activities include basketball, volleyball and shuffleboard.

      Rates as of 2010 are $28 per night for an RV site with water and electricity and $22 per night for a tent site.

    Grand Haven Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

    • Located 45 minutes west of Grand Rapids, the Jellystone Park offers 282 campsites ranging from primitive to full hookup sites for both tents and RVs. Campground amenities include a heated pool, hayrides, hiking trails and bike trails.

      Rates are broken up into in-season, which is June 25 to Aug. 29, and off-season, which is May 1 to June 24 and Aug. 30 to Oct. 15.

      In-season rates as of 2010 include $34.99 for a primitive tent site, $39.99 for a water and electricity site and $46.99 for a premium site. Off-season rates as of 2010 include $22.99 per night for a primitive tent site, $24.99 for a water and electricity only site and $28.99 for a premium site.

      This campground is pet-friendly.
