Campgrounds in Irish Hills, Michigan

Irish Hills is in Lenawee County—a county that had about 99,837 people in 2009, according to the US Census Bureau. Hills and lakes, including Vineyard, Wamplers, Devils and Clark lakes, dominate the landscape of Irish Hills. In Irish Hills, people can go swimming, canoeing, fishing, boating, water skiing or jet skiing. The area also serves as an ideal location for going skiing, watching a stock car race, going golfing or going for a hike. Many campgrounds in and near Irish Hills are located near the area's outdoor activities.

    • W.J. Hayes State Park is found in Onsted, a village in Lenawee County that is considered a part of Irish Hills. The campground sits near Hidden Lake Gardens, Round Lake and the Mystery Hill house. Part of Wamplers Lake, a body of water where people can go fishing, swimming, canoeing or boating, sits within the park. The state park’s campground has 183 sites for recreational vehicle and tent camping, all of which have electrical connections. The park also rents out mini cabins to small groups. Amenities at the state park include a boat ramp, a fishing dock, a concession stand, a children’s playground, horseshoe pits, a baseball field, shower facilities and a pavilion area with picnic tables. The facility offers planned activities during different parts of the year, such as holiday celebrations, arts and crafts sessions and carnivals. People can go to the park all year long, but the campground is only open from April to October.

    Juniper Hills Campground

    • Juniper Hills Campground is located in Brooklyn, a village in Irish Hills. The camping facility is situated close to the Michigan International Speedway, St. Joseph’s Shrine, Walker Tavern, Dewey Lake and Clark Lake. The camping facility has over 2,000 sites for RV and tent camping, which are located in different sections of the campground. People can camp at one of the facility’s camping areas, which has 342 sites, during different parts of the camping season. The other campsites are only available to people attending races at the Michigan International Speedway. A majority of the RV sites at the campground come with water and electrical hookups. The campground features a private fishing pond, a children’s playground, horseshoe pits, a convenience store with groceries and camping supplies, an RV washing station and bathrooms with showers. The facility has planned activities, such as holiday celebrations and pig roasts. The campground’s season runs from May through October

    Apple Creek Campground and RV Park

    • Apple Creek Campground and RV Park is about 17 miles from Irish Hills, in the village of Grass Lake. The campground is found within a 30-minute drive of attractions in Irish Hills, such as Devils Lake, One Mile Lake, the Irish Hills Fun Center and the Devil’s Lake Golf Course. The campground is also near Cascade Falls Park, the Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center and the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company. The campground has 170 RV and tent campsites, most of which have water and electrical connections. All of the sites come with fire pits and picnic tables. The campground features an outdoor swimming pool, a fishing pond, a paddle boat rental service, a miniature golf course, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, an arcade, a children’s playground, a rec room, nature trails, bathrooms with showers and a store with supplies and hot foods. The camping facility hosts planned activities, such as ice cream socials, holiday parties and karaoke nights. Most of the campground is open from April to October. Some sites are available through the end of November.
