Campgrounds in Midland, Michigan

Three rivers converge in Midland, creating beautiful scenery in the city and throughout the Midland County area. Located in east central Michigan, Midland features year-round recreational activities that include great public and privately owned camping areas enjoyed by residents and visitors.
  1. Valley Plaza Resort RV Park

    • The Valley Plaza Resort RV Park is part of the Valley Plaza Resort located just off U.S. 10. In 2010, "Trailer Life" named it one of the top-rated RV parks. The park features 77 campsites that are landscaped and lighted with full RV hookups along with patios and grills underneath shade trees. Picnic tables and fire pits also highlight this top-ranked RV camping site. Reservations are required, which allow you access to a sandy beach leading to a sparkling lake with a variety of water sports. Valley Plaza Resort RV Park also features a full health club, including an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, and weight and exercise rooms. In addition, entertainment at the park can be found in the arcade. Bowling and miniature golf are also available.

    Lake of Dreams Campground

    • Lake of Dreams Campground offers a variety of campsites stretched over 77 acres. You can choose to enjoy one of the camps 151 modern campsites in an RV, camping trailer or tent. For a more primitive experience, the camp offers rustic cabins nestled in quiet, wooded areas. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. Visitors can experience swimming in the campgrounds four-acre lake, relax on the beach, take a paddle boat on the water and fish in two nearby ponds. Other activities offered include hiking, bike riding and hayrides. Lake of Dreams Campground also features themed weekends throughout the summer. The campground is located about 30 minutes south of Midland on Michigan Route 46. Space is limited and reservations are necessary.

    Black Creek State Forest Campground

    • Located three miles northwest of Sanford, off U.S. 10, in Midland County, is the Black Creek State Forest Campground. All campsites are semi-modern, located along Black Creek, and have boat launch access to numerous area lakes and rivers. If you prefer hiking or mountain biking, the campground offers ten miles of flat and rolling trails. A nearby abandoned railroad bed has been paved and provides an excellent route through scenic areas of the forest. No reservations are required and sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The campground has 38 total sites with about half able to accommodate a 40-foot camping trailer or vehicle. The site is operated by the Michigan DNR, Gladwin Field Office.
