Nenana, Alaska, Area Campgrounds

Nenana, Alaska, is a small town in the county of Yukon-Koyukuk. It is about halfway in between Fairbanks and Denali National Park and rests between the Nenana and Tanana Rivers. The name Nenana means "a good place to camp between the rivers," which bodes well for campers heading to the area.
  1. Nenana RV Park & Campground

    • According to the Alaska Campground Owners' Association, the Nenana RV Park & Campground is the only campground in the small town of Nenana. It is located on E. 4th Street and is within walking distance of the Nenana Visitor Center, the Cultural Center, the Railroad Museum, and several other historical sites.

    Denali Riverside RV Park

    • To the south of Nenana is the beautiful, 9,492 square-mile Denali National Park where great camping abounds. The Denali Riverside RV Park is along the Nenana River just two miles from the park entrance. Amenities include laundry facilities, satellite TV, a gift shop, and a tour desk that guests can use to explore the Denali National Park.

    Denali Grizzly Bear Resort

    • Further south, near the town of Cantwell, Alaska, is the Denali Grizzly Bear Resort, which offers well-maintained campsites with access to laundry facilities and clean restrooms. For those who are not so outdoorsy, the Denali Grizzly Bear Resort also offers visitors the option of staying in one of its "tent cabins" or its 72-room cedar hotel.

    River's Edge Resort

    • For those uninterested in the Denali National Park, to the east of Nehana is Fairbanks, Alaska, the state's second largest city. The River's Edge Resort has easy access to an airport and the highway. In addition to camp sites, the River's Edge Resort also maintains private cottages and a four-star hotel.
