Nestled in the ridges of the southern Appalachian Mountains, the East Tennessee city of Chattanooga provides RV and tent camping opportunities in its immediate area. Campers who spend their vacations in the Chattanooga area can enjoy hiking and cycling trails at Harrison Bay State Park, or canoeing and fishing on the Tennessee River. Chattanooga is also home to the marine wildlife exhibits at the Tennessee Aquarium.

    • Situated on the eastern edge of Chattanooga, Raccoon Mountain Caverns provides tourists with spelunking adventures in the park's 5 1/2 miles of mapped underground trails. Visitors can also pan for gemstones or ride a go-kart in the park. Tent and RV camping are allowed in the park's campground. RV sites include water, electric, cable TV and sewer hook-ups. Other park amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, restrooms, showers, a laundromat and a playground. Access to Wi-Fi Internet is spread throughout the campground. As of 2010, full-service RV parking site rates are $30 to $33 per night, while sites with water and electricity hook-ups are $27 per night. Tent camping sites are $18 per night.

    Best Holiday Trav-L Park of Chattanooga

    • Best Holiday Trav-L Park is located in the southeastern corner of Chattanooga, right off Interstate 75 and 20 minutes from the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Park in Georgia. This recreational area offers hiking trails and picnicking areas. The Best Holiday Trav-L campground has 170 tent and RV sites with fire pits, picnic tables and hook-ups for water, electricity, waste and cable TV. Tent camping is permitted. Other amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, clubhouse for group gatherings, laundromat, and a convenience store with groceries and RV supplies. RV sites in 2010 range from $35 to $37 per night, while tent camping sites range from $27 with no hook-ups to $31 with water and electric service.

    Chattanooga North/Cleveland KOA

    • The KOA in Cleveland, Tennessee, is about 30 minutes from Chattanooga. For campers with horses, the KOA offers an equestrian center and horseback riding trails throughout its property. The campground has tent spots and RV sites with water, electric, sewage and cable hook-ups.

      Other amenities include access to Wi-Fi Internet throughout the park, a snack bar, fire pits and a pavilion for group gatherings. Fishing and boating are available 20 minutes away at Harrison Bay State Park. As of 2010, RV parking sites range from $28 to $35 per night, while tent campsites range from $16 with no hook-ups to $19 with water and electric hook-ups.
