Chattanooga, Tennessee Attractions

Chattanooga is located near the border of Georgia in Southeast Tennessee. Although discovered in the late 16th century, Chattanooga was not officially named---as suggested by Capt. John P. Long---until 1838. The fourth largest city in the state, tourists flock to Chattanooga to witness the many popular attractions throughout this scenic city. When visiting Chattanooga, you can visit the Tennessee Aquarium, Ruby Falls or take a ride on the Southern Belle Riverboat.
  1. Tennessee Aquarium

    • As stated on tnaqua.org, the Tennessee Aquarium is one of America's top 10 tourist attractions for guest satisfaction and the highest ranked aquarium in the United States. With a variety of animals including mammals, fish and reptiles, this aquarium has something for everyone to enjoy. The I-MAX Theater is a six-story movie screen that provides a realistic display and thrilling action as the movie comes to life in 3-D. There are educational programs throughout the facility that empower students by providing well-balanced lessons, whether by nature or educational I-MAX films. With 10,000 animals, several events and attractions, the Tennessee Aquarium offers something for all ages.

    Ruby Falls

    • Ruby Falls is a massive underground waterfall located deep inside Lookout Mountain. This Chattanooga attraction is more than 1,120 feet beneath the earth's surface and it is the nation's deepest and largest waterfall open to the public. With hundreds of gallons of water rushing over the fall by the minute, this natural wonder continues to amaze visitors. Ruby Falls is open for visitors to explore all year round, and children can enjoy interactive fun at the Fun Forest Playground or Lookout Mountain Tower. Stop by one of the on-site gift shops for a trinket or souvenir or you can grab a bite to eat at the on-site Cavern Café or Fun Forest Grill.

    Southern Belle Riverboat

    • When vacationing in Chattanooga, add a daytime, lunch or dinner cruise to your itinerary aboard the Southern Belle Riverboat. This famous attraction offers 1.5-hour boat cruises along the Tennessee River. The narrated daytime cruise allows guests to sight see as well as learn about the uniting of the Union and Confederate armies and also the history of Lookout Mountain. If cruising at lunchtime, you can have an afternoon meal while enjoying the sights and sounds along the river.
