Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a small city of approximately 154,000 residents, which is surrounded by mountains, lakes and the Tennessee River and has a rich Civil War history. Located in the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg can offer couples a romantic fall getaway in a private mountain cabin or families an activity-filled outdoor adventure. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, established by President Coolidge in 1926, features over 500,000 acres of forest, and visitors can participate in educational programs offered by park rangers. Gatlinburg Ziplines is the first treetop zipline to have been established in Tennessee and offers visitors unparalleled views of the area. Several horse stables, including Smoky Mountain Stables and Sugarlands Riding Stables, run guided horseback tours of the Smoky Mountains and through the national park. Gatlinburg is a popular tourist spot and home to approximately 11,000 mountain accommodations. Known and appreciated primarily for its country music history, Nashville, Tennessee is commonly referred to as "Music City." The city, which features a wide variety of attractions, was named by "Travel + Leisure" as "America's Friendliest City" in 2009. The Parthenon, located in Centennial Park, includes a re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena; both the Parthenon and the statue are full-scale replicas of the original constructions that they represent. Sports fans visiting Nashville in October can take in a Tennessee Titans football game. The Tennessee State Museum features fine art, textiles, crafts and culture, all of which celebrate Tennessee's long and varied history.
