A dude ranch in the Smoky Mountains, the French Broad River Dude Ranch offers activities for the entire family. Horseback riding is the focus, but rafting and tubing down the French Broad River are offered as well. A team penning event is offered twice a week, during which participants on horseback try to herd cows into a box-shaped enclosure. Vacationers of any experience level can participate. Bonfires, line dancing, square dancing, sing-a-longs and live music are offered for evening entertainment.

The Deer Ridge Mountain Resort is located in the Great Smoky Mountains. Horseback riding packages include accommodations for a three-night stay in the resort along with a one-hour guided trail ride through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
