    Historic Viewing

    • The town of Signal Mountain grew out of a cholera outbreak that took place in Chattanooga in the late 1800s. Folks looking to escape the deadly disease went north, finding clean air and peaceful seclusion in the Signal Mountain area. Today, the town boasts a population of more than 7,000 people but has a carefully preserved history that dates back to the Civil War, when Signal Point was used as a communications station for the Union Army. The town's oldest buildings date back to 1912 and are reminders of the rich heritage and the early days of the city.

    Tennessee-Style Entertainment

    • While most folks take their mountain entertainment needs up the road to Knoxville and Dollywood, it is possible to find authentic Tennessee hills entertainment just outside the Signal Mountain town limits. The Mountain Opry offers family fun and musical entertainment with Friday nights being the big draw as the opry house brings in several local and regional blue-grass and mountain music acts to fill the place with sound. One of the nice things about the Mountain Opry is that it's not for profit, which makes the performances and the non-stop people watching and cultural experience free to the public.
