Rockwood is a small town located in eastern Tennessee, just over an hour's drive from Knoxville. Situated on the banks of the Tennessee River, Rockwood has a population of about 5,800 residents. You can reach the town via Interstate 40 or Highway 27. While there may not be a lot of activities offered, Rockwood's attraction lies in its preservation of old Tennessee culture.
One of Rockwood's most famous landmarks is Live and Let Live Drug Store. Central to the community since the 1800s, the store has retained its antiquated character. It also double as an ice cream soda shop, offering ice cream, milkshakes and floats, as well as old-fashioned candy. The drug store and soda fountain are open Monday through Saturday. Across from the drug store and soda fountain you will find Rockwood's antique market. Spread out over 10,000 square feet, O Those Were the Days is a place for both locals and visitors to dig through treasures from the past. The market is a combination of antique dealers, pawn shops and used merchandise stores. Everything from used and antique furniture to clothing, glassware, jewelry and home decor can be found. The market is open Monday through Saturday.

Yonder Hollow, a music production company, hosts an "Old Timey Music Show" every Friday evening. The performance area is located on West Rockwood Street inside the Peterman building. Shows vary weekly and feature local bluegrass musicians. Past performers include Brandywine, J-Team, Windrock Mountain and Clay Hollow. If you want to blend in with the local crowd, consider wearing overalls or a cowboy hat.

Just outside Rockwood is Watts Bar Lake. With over 770 miles of shoreline, the lake is a popular place for fishing, swimming and boating. Pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks are available for rent on site. A boat launch, camp sites and cabin rentals are available at Spring City Marina.
