East Tennessee Attractions & Hotels

The Eastern part of Tennessee is best known for being home to the Great Smoky Mountains along with other attractions and lodging options ranging from full service resorts to rustic cabins. Gatlinburg and Knoxville are both within Eastern Tennessee. Visitors to the area have plenty of options when it comes to travel accommodations and sightseeing opportunities.

    • The World's Fair Park and Festival Center in Knoxville is an attraction that has evolved into an entertainment complex housing various attractions. The 1982 World's Fair that was hosted in Knoxville created the complex to support the event. The grounds throughout the park house a variety of areas to visit, relax, picnic and enjoy the surroundings. One area that is popular with visitors of all ages is the water fountain that features dancing fountains that guests can run through to cool off. The original architectural symbol of the fair still remains and is called the Sunsphere. Guests can visit the top of the tower and take in the surrounding views for a nominal fee. An amphitheater and other venue areas hold events on an ongoing basis. There are restroom facilities throughout the park and restaurants and dining options are located within walking distance.

    Great Smoky Mountains National Park

    • Great Smoky Mountains National Park is situated in the Eastern part of Tennessee near Gatlinburg. The Smoky Mountains span both Tennessee and North Carolina. The park is operated by the United States National Park Service and there are a variety of things to see and do within the park. Camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking and picnicking are all favorite activities. Biking, horseback riding and water tubing are also available at various sections of the 814 square mile park. In and around the area of the park are a wide array of lodging options including hotels, motels, cabins and lodges.
